As the town began to wake up, the children zoomed to the newspaper stand’s owner, on the next
et, and requested, “One newspaper, please,” and handed him a few coins. After buying the paper,
twins hurried back home to read the article to their mother.

When they arrived, the twins read aloud, “A legend is told about a magical item that gives you what you ask
for. The treasure is hidden behind one of the bricks on the Great Wall.”
Can we go and find the treasure?” Vicky asked. “It’s dangerous!” her mother exclaimed. They discussed
for a long time, until she agreed, “You may go, but pack supplies.” Excitedly, the twins smiled.
Victor packed supplies that included: a rope, bread and some coins. While her brother packed, Vicky tidied
up some clothes. After they finished, the twins left.
They finally arrived at the Great Wall. When they looked up, the light had faded. Night came. Suddenly,
Creak!” came a noise.
What’s that?” Victor asked.
It’s coming from the wall!” Vicky cried.
Creak!” The noise happened again. “The brick is popping out!” Victor shouted.
Maybe we can tie a rope on the brick and pull!” Vicky suggested. Victor nodded and got out the rope in his
bag. He tied it around the brick. Before Victor started to pull, he asked Vicky to help him.
As he grabbed the rope, he screamed, “Pull!” They pulled a lot. Vicky was out of breath. Victor was about
to drop. Suddenly, the brick came out! The brick made a noise, which filled the air. The twins fell down.
Vicky got up and peeked in the hole. There was a chest! “Victor! Come! It’s the treasure!” she screamed.
Victor ran to the hole and lifted the box out. He flipped the top open. A beautiful sapphire lay in the box.
It’s wonderful! Let’s give it to Mother! She works so hard!” Victor was quite amazed. After the discovery,
they wanted to go home, so they dashed away.
When they arrived, their mother heard them and flung her arms around them. “I thought you were lost!” She
burst into grateful tears.
We found the treasure!” Victor grinned. His mother paused.
You found the treasure?” she asked. Vicky explained, “You work so hard for us so you can have the
jewel!”
For the next few months, the happy family used the sapphire to wish for food, clothing, and other items to
help the village people.
One day, several weeks later, Victor and Vicky dashed to the next street and bought the paper, as they
always did. The article read, “A legend told there is some gold hidden in the sea.” The twins smiled and knew
their next adventure was starting.
